Introduction

This guide shows how to adjust the stepper driver current on the Creality3D CR-10S Pro.

The CR-10S Pro does not have a digiport adjustment to adjust the current for the stepper motors, instead it uses potentiometers that is manually adjusted to control the current for the stepper motors.

Compatibility

The Guide is compatible with the following machine:

Creality3D CR-10S Pro

Additional Information

For printers that are using a controller that uses digiports (Ultimaker, Prusa I3 MK3/S etc.) the current for the motors can normally be set by M907 followed by the axis to set and the value in milliamps. To set the stepperdriver for the extruder to 700 mA then the following line can be used.

M907 E700

    • Turn of you printer.

    • Remove the power cable.

  2. Push levers outwards Remove cable
    • Push levers outwards

    • Remove cable

    • This step is important to protect the stepper driver.

  3. Grab the print bed and carefully tilt the printer so the bottom side faces you. Remove the 12 screws that holds the bottom plate with a Phillips screwdriver. And 2 screws on each side of the printer.

    • Locate the potentiometer.

  5. Before adjusting the current you have to power up the printer again.
    • Before adjusting the current you have to power up the printer again.

    • Plug in the cable and turn the printer on.

    • Be careful when the printer is on. Do not touch anything inside yet.

  6. Use a Multimeter on the DC voltage setting. Be very careful not to touch anything else than the potentiometer with the probe tip, otherwise it might damage the controller. Place the negative lead (black) on the negative voltage supply to the board.

    • Be very careful not to touch anything else than the potentiometer with the probe tip, otherwise it might damage the controller.

    • Place the negative lead (black) on the negative voltage supply to the board.

    • Place the positive lead probe on the small potentiometer on the stepperdriver.

    • Adjust the Vref by turning the potentiometer, counter clockwize lowers the value, clockwize increases the value.

    • Use non-conductive ceramic screw drivers or ESD-wrist strap to protect the components.

    • Adjust the value to 0.40 volt.

  7. Turn the printer of again and put the cover back in its place. Use a Phillips screwdriver to fasten the 12 screws on the bottom of the printer. And the 2 screws on each side of the printer.
