Disclaimer

Installing a BL Touch on a CR-10S Pro is not an easy deed. This guide focus only on the mechanical part, from removing the EZABL levelling sensor to mounting the BL Touch in its place.   1. On this guide we go through a lot of work to take the carriage out of the x-axis profile. Just to remove the 2 screws that hold the bed levelling sensor bracket. Our friend Janne Liiti just teached us we don't need to remove the carriage at all.

  5. Hold the nut from the bottom roller in place. Unscrew from the other side to give the roller some slack. Remove the carriage from the axis.

  6. Unscrew both screws. Take the screws out. The EZABL mount is released.

  7. Cut the zip-tie holding the cable at the DDX. Remove the cable clip there. Remove the cable clip in the middle of the cable.

  10. Remove the enclosure Locate the EZABL connector Disconnect it.

  11. Pull the sleeve away from the DDX to wide its ends. Pull the EZABL cable from the sleeve. Take cable and conector out of the sleeve.

  12. Pull the EZABL cable from through the groove. You can pull it out when it reaches the section without external insulation. You can pull it out when it reaches the section without external insulation.

    • Place the 3D printed part against the DDX side aligning the slot with both mounting holes.

    • These holes are not threaded.

    • The screw will open the thread.

    • Don't over tighten the screw or you may damage the threading on the DDX.

  14. Start by screwing the bottom screw (on the right in the image) The slot allows for the mount to be adjusted in height in case of need. We will continue by fixing the mount with both screws (recovered from extracting the EZABL munt).

  15. Insert the connector in the sleeve, opposite of the DDX. Run it through the sleeve. Until it comes out from the other side.

  16. Connect the BL Touch cable. Place the BL Touch on the mount. Use 2 of the screws included in the BL Touch kit to fix it to the mount.

  17. Check the height of the sensor tip when retracted. The tip of the probe should be at a distance to the nozzle tip, within a very precise interval that is set on the guide of your BL Touch version. On a BL Touch 3.1 that will be between 2.3 and 4.3mm.

    • We release the top screw to allow height adjustement.

  18. Loosen the screw. Lower the DDX Mount for BL Touch untill you have the tip within the height gap recommended on the BL Touch guide. Retract the sensor tip.

  19. Angle the carriage to bring the top rollers about. Fit the 2 top rollers on the profile groove.

    • Rotate the carriage to pass the bottom roller under the profile.

  20. Use the wrench to hold the nut between the carriage plate and the DDX. Use the hex-key to tighten the roller into place. The carriage will still wiggle a bit even after tighten.

  21. Use the wrench to hold the nut between the carriage plate and the profile. This nut has an eccentric that will vary the fit of the roller to the profile groove. Find the best position so the carriage can roll well and smoothly back and forth.

  23. Use 2 hex keys for this operation. One hex key act as a lever to push the roller outwards. The other tightens the screw.

    • Check with your finger pressing up if the belt is under a good level of tension.

  24. Hold the cables withinn the grooves. Insert a new zip-tie. Insert a new zip-tie.

  25. Lower the sleeve below the zip-tie. Tighten the zip-tie. Tighten the zip-tie.

  26. Insert one end of the PTFE in the push-fit on the DDX. Use the cable clip to grab the cable to the PTFE tube. Use the cable clip to grab the cable to the PTFE tube.

  27. Use the 2nd cable clip to grab cable and PTFE tube at mid distance between the DDX and the filament sensor.
