Compatibility

The upgrade is compatible with the following machine:

For CR-10 Max Users

If you are using a CR-10 Max or a CR-10S Pro v2, you need to print the DDX Mount for BL Touch. The metal mount for the levelling sensor on those models is in the way and will have to be replaced. Use this guide: 01. Mechanical Installation Of A BL Touch Levelling Sensor to know how the mount can be removed and the DDX mount for BL Touch is installed.


You will need :

If you use a BLtouch instead of the Pro bed sensor, 3D print the DDX Mount for BL Touch model supplied in the STL files list.


You will also need the following:

  1. First, turn your 3D Printer ON using the power switch.

  2. Before you strip the CR-10S Pro down, download and 3D print the following STL models: PTFE/Capricorn Cutting Fixture.
  3. On the 3D Printer screen. Go to Settings. Go to Refuel.
    • On the 3D Printer screen.

    • Go to Settings.

    • Go to Refuel.

    • Press Retreat.

  4. Press Yes. Wait until hotend reaches 195 degree celsius. Press Rereat to retract the material 10 mm.
    • Press Yes.

    • Wait until hotend reaches 195 degree celsius.

    • Press Rereat to retract the material 10 mm.

  5. Clamp the lever and spring to release the pressure on the filament. Gently pull the material out.
    • Clamp the lever and spring to release the pressure on the filament.

  6. Turn off the printer by pressing the power switch on the rigth side of the printer. Disconnect the power cord.
    • Turn off the printer by pressing the power switch on the rigth side of the printer.

    • Disconnect the power cord.

  7. Remove original cable clip. Remove original cable clip.
    • Remove original cable clip.

  8. Remove the Capricorn tube from the push-fit Press the collar of the push-fit and push the Capricorn away.
    • Remove the Capricorn tube from the push-fit

    • Press the collar of the push-fit

    • and push the Capricorn away.

  9. Use the 2.5 Hex Key Unscrew this screw holding the spring first, then remove this one holding the lever,
    • Use the 2.5 Hex Key

    • Unscrew this screw holding the spring first,

    • then remove this one holding the lever,

    • and lift the lever assembly away.

  10. Use the 2.0 Hex Key Unscrew this screw first. then take this screw away,
    • Use the 2.0 Hex Key

    • Unscrew this screw first.

    • then take this screw away,

    • While removing the last screw

    • hold the stepper motor in place with your hand.

  11. Move the extruder assembly up and away, Lower the stepper motor and remove the connection cable form the connector. Lower the stepper motor and remove the connection cable form the connector.
    • Move the extruder assembly up and away,

    • Lower the stepper motor and remove the connection cable form the connector.

  12. Use the 2.0 Hex Key Unscrew the lower screw.
    • Use the 2.0 Hex Key

    • Unscrew the lower screw.

    • Hold and lower the fan shroud.

  13. Use the 2.0 Hex Key Unscrew the last two screws.
    • Use the 2.0 Hex Key

    • Unscrew the last two screws.

    • Hold the fan while loosing the last screw so it doesn't fall.

  14. Use the 2.0 Hex Key Unscrew the next two screws holding the Hotend cover. The fan wires are fragile. Handle them with care.
    • Use the 2.0 Hex Key

    • Unscrew the next two screws holding the Hotend cover.

    • The fan wires are fragile. Handle them with care.

    • Carefully release the hotend cover.

  15. The fan wires are fragile. Handle them with care. Use the 2.0 Hex Key Unscrew these 4 screws
    • The fan wires are fragile. Handle them with care.

    • Use the 2.0 Hex Key

    • Unscrew these 4 screws

    • Detach the frontal fan from the hotend cover.

  16. Use the Creality wrench Release the push-fit with your wrench tool Unscrew it by hand.
    • Use the Creality wrench

    • Release the push-fit with your wrench tool

    • Unscrew it by hand.

    • Raise push-fit and Capricorn.

    • Press the collar on the push-fit to Release the Capricorn. It may be hard to get out, it could require you to push the entire tube through the push.fit connector. Store the Push-fit connector for use later.

  17. Use the Cutting Pliers Cut the zip-tie that holds the cable sleeve.
    • Use the Cutting Pliers

    • Cut the zip-tie that holds the cable sleeve.

    • Stretch the cable sleeve up to have more clearence and access to the cables.

  18. The thermistor and heater cables are fragile. Handle them with care. Use the 2.0 Hex Key Unscrew these 2 screws.

    • Use the 2.0 Hex Key

    • Unscrew these 2 screws.

    • Remove the screws from the Hotend.

    • Store the 2 washers for use later.

    • You are now finished with stripping down the CR-10S Pro.

    • In case you are stripping down a CR-10 Max to install a DDX,

    • You will also need to remove the BL Touch mount plate.

    • That mount plate will be replaced with a 3D printed mount
