Why is the extruder squeaking during large retractions?
After about 48 hours of nearly continuous printing, separate prints, specifically, the notorious spiral chess set, a high pitched squeak developed during certain retractions. I believe it is actually occurring during the largest retractions as it jumps from spiral towers not next to one another across the print, no one tower over.
I have adjusted the thumbscrew and tried holding the filament directly straight with no change.
My next step is taking the extruder apart and applying white lithium grease to the gears, but would like to hear any feedback or suggestions.
Is this a good question?
