Introduction
This guide shows the installation process of our BMG upgrade kit for Wanhao D6.
Bondtech Firmware for Wanhao D6
The new extruder and motor have a different geometry compared to the original one so in order to avoid the print head crashing into the rear panel you should download and flash our custom made firmware. You can download the firmware here:
The following is changed from the default firmware.
- Set E-step to 415: #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT{80,80,400,415}
- Set Max Y axis to 183mm: #define Y_MAX_POS 183
- Reverse direction of extruder motor: #define INVERT_E0_DIR true
Bondtech Firmware for Wanhao D6 Plus / D6 MK2
For the Plus (or MK2) model you can download the firmware here
Important
On some printers it is necessary to add an O-ring to the plastic parts that activates the end stop in y-axis as the extruder otherwise can hit the frame when doing a homing to y zero. You can find the Guide at the Parts section below.
After installing the new firmware
perform a "Restore to factory defaults" from the LCD panel to make sure the new values are used.
After the Factory Reset, don’t forget to level your build plate.
